HELD OVER - 4 WEEKS in Mesa - Emma Smith

Emma Smith: My Story has been held over a FOURTH week here in Mesa at the Riverview Cinemark 16. That will make it a month-long run when they were wondering if they could get a week or two from it. How exciting is that???

I SUGGEST YOU GO AGAIN and if you haven't gone yet... good grief!!! Get going!!!!!

This movie is LIFE-CHANGING! So, everyone... go see it (even if you've already been) before it leaves town. I have to tell you that all three times I’ve gone (and I’m planning on going at least once more)… the theater was quite full (even in the middle of the day) and each time everyone remained silent until the very end of the credits, just like the first time I saw it. No one moved, no one spoke. It was truly a wonderful experience… the good feeling it gives you lasts a very long time… go get another “fix” of excellence. So, PLEASE GO... FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!!! I wouldn't lead you astray... this is one of the finest movies I have ever seen.

Saw Emma AGAIN ~ here in Mesa 'til June 12th

Greetings all ~

Well, I saw Emma again Tues morning. While standing in line a woman next to me commented that she came because of an email someone forwarded to her... it didn't take long in talking about the contents of the email to discover it was the one I had originally sent out to my friends... small world.

The other pretty cool thing is that the manager was VERY late getting there to open the theater (was attending the 10:10AM showing after my morning class at M.C.C.) and so they gave free admission to all of us waiting in line. Nice. That viewing I took a pad of paper, pen and a small pen light and sat on the very last row where I wouldn't bother anyone and actually took notes because there are so many profound things in this movie!!

IT WILL STILL BE IN MESA NEXT WEEK SO GO SEE IT (at least once) WHILE YOU CAN!!

I planned on going again on Wed. when I got a free screening to another great LDS film, "The Errand of Angels" about a darling sister missionary that goes to Austria. I'll write about it later. I also volunteered to help at the desk which was great fun.

More later ~

Emma Smith: My Story ~ Simply Stunning!!

Yesterday Jim and I went to see Emma Smith: My Story and we were blown away. It really wasn't what I expected... don't know what I expected actually, but the format (the story is told in flashbacks as Julia visits with her mother towards the end of her life and Julia does the narrating along the way), the quality and the effect it continues to have on me still are nothing that I was planning on.

I had heard it was one of the "better" LDS films. To, me that's an understatement but I don't want to build it up to where you could ever be disappointed... don't see that happening though.

Just to give you a feeling for how magnificent it was... the credits ran for what seemed like 8-9 minutes (they left NO one out; it wasn't until they got to who was on the construction crew that a few people quietly got up and left) but basically, everyone in the rather packed theater remained silent until the very end of the credits. No one moved, no one spoke. We all just sat there, still in awe at what we had seen. It was like no one wanted to break the spell. And even when people did leave, they left reverently, speaking only in whispers.

I, the word-loving chatterbox, have not the words to describe the effect this movie had on me. I have always loved Emma Smith. Now that has only increased and I marvel at her strength and her faith.

You can go to the movie website and click on showtimes and scroll down to see if it is playing where you live. http://www.emmasmithmovie.com/

Jim is going to scout camp next week... but I'm going to the movies. I actually plan to go to a matinee of it almost every day next week. I'm even going to bring paper and pen at least one of the times and write in the dark because so many profound things were said that were exactly what I needed to hear right now.

So, if you live where it is playing... please go and see it (it is actually a non-profit film by the way).

Well, I have a super full day and need to run but I just wanted to make sure no one missed this movie if they can possibly get to it. Personally, I will never be the same (and that's a good thing... I was in a slump feeling sorry for myself and missing BJ and the folks during this Memorial Day week and then I remember how many children Emma and the Prophet buried and how they went on and I know I am ok.

Movies I've recently seen

Movies I've seen lately that I want to talk about:
  • Emma Smith: My Story ~ fabulous!!
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian ~ loved it!
  • DVD ~ Believe in Me (girls' basketball team) ~ great movie
  • Iron Man ~ such fun!!

Welcome ~ my version of movie reviews!!

Welcome!!!

I LOVE movies!!! So, I thought it would be fun to have a place to talk about lots of great movies ~ kind of a review site. They might be current movies in the theater or new to DVD or an old classic that you recently watched and want to talk about. I love what film can convey and I like to watch films that uplift or at the very least teach and leave the viewer satisfied. For now, this is an open blog... if people who don't want to discuss great family-type or honorable films start discussing what I deem inappropriate... I'll just switch it to a blog for only those invited in. We'll see how it goes. I am an LDS wife, mother and grandmother... also a teacher and a writer so these things will play a big part in what type of movies I choose and which ones I hope we get to discuss. So.... seen any good movies lately?
